Walking has many health benefits in the long run. One is to minimize the risk of osteoarthritis (OA) or rheumatoid arthritis, especially in the knees.

Walking is a daily routine activities performed by anyone. Experts reveal when we walk up to 6,000 steps a day, the effect is to reduce the risk of inflammation of the knee joint.

Quoted Timesofindia, Wednesday (14/01/2015), medical evidence has been reported someone who walk less than 90 minutes each week, they are a lot of suffering from osteoarthritis.

Dr. Daniel White, PT, ScD, from Sargent College, Boston University in Massachusetts said, walking benefits for improved bone function better. The more you walk, the risk of inflammation of the joints going downhill.

In the study involving 1,788 people who like to walk. Within seven days, the respondent is required to walk for more than 90 minutes. Their steps were measured with a monitor and evaluate the next two years.

Respondents were only able to walk approximately 1,000 steps still got the risk of osteoarthritis in figure 16-18 percent. While they were able to walk up to 6,000 steps, the result is good until reaching 70 percent.

Of the study, Dr. White concluded, any person who is able to walk up to 3000-6000 steps and enjoyable benefit within two years, one of which prevent inflammation of the joints in the knees.
